Rohit Sharma resigns from Reliance Entertainment Digital; to launch ecommerce venture

Rohit Sharma, CEO, Reliance Entertainment Digital has put in his papers and January 20, 2012 will be his last day at the company, reports MediaNama. India Digital Review has learnt from multiple sources that Sharma is planning to launch his own ecommerce venture.

Meanwhile, in December 2011, the company had decided to go for a portfolio restructuring and planned to move away from all physical businesses like Zapak Gameplex to focus on pure play digital business. The company has also done away with BigAdda Readers Offer business and following this, Shivanandan Pare, Chief Operating Officer of BigAdda had resigned from the company.

Sharma had joined as CEO of Zapak.com in March 2006. Prior to joining Zapak, Sharma had worked with Times Internet as the Business Head for Indiatimes Mindscape and also the National Sales Head for Advertising Sales and Events. Prior to that, he had worked with CyberMedia.
