21 Feb 2012

Online classifieds marketplace Sulekha.com has unveiled a new visual identity of its corporate brand. According to the company, this change in brand identity reflects Sulekha.com’s new avatar as an ecommerce company focused on local needs.

The company has also come up with a new tagline ‘Delightful discoveries. Everyday’ and is currently running a multi-city campaign with a host of above-the-line and below-the-line marketing activities, and will be spending Rs 5 crore during the first month of the launch. The campaign uses ‘fingertips’ as a motif and features the tagline, ‘Everything you need in your city, at your fingertips.’

Param Parameswaran, Chairman, Sulekha.com, said, “Sulekha.com is at an inflection point, having just metamorphosed into an ecommerce company. We have aggressive growth targets for FY13 and are investing heavily in enriching our database and expanding our offerings across multiple platforms. The new brand identity is designed to highlight our customer-centric approach. We want to become synonymous with local information needs in every city.”

The new logo is copied from Chennai's e-learning company saselworld.

The logo looks awful! And they are trying different things at a time and getting into the crowded eCommerce where they can't succeed.

This is an interesting move, but with the ecommerce space really crowded does Sulekha have what it takes? For the better part, from what i have seen, most of the pages are not cross-browser compatible, i am still getting calls from customer reps about an ad i placed 2 yrs ago and not to mention that i can never unsubscribe from their emails.
